Here is an illustration I made for my illustration agency, The Bright Group International/ The Bright Group USA. It was for their 4th of July campaign they sent out to all their clients. I was honored to have been one of the few chosen to be featured. Enjoy!
This weeks illustration was based off Richard Peck’s book “This Ghost Belonged to Me”. It was also made into a movie by Disney in the 70’s called, “Child of Glass”. In this story moment, the boy named Alexander is talking to the Creole ghost girl Inez. She’s telling him that he must solve the riddle about the Child of Glass before Halloween. If he doesn’t she’ll be cursed to haunt him for the rest of his life.
This weeks Colour Collective color was Mars Violet so it reminded me of the color of mud. Then I remembered a lesser known fairy tale called “The Pig Brother”. Story goes since the little boy kept his room dirty, the fairy told him to go find his brother, while she fixed his room. He talks to a squirrel, a wren, and a cat asking if they were his brothers. They deny they are his brothers because they are clean. Along comes a pig, which the boy tries to avoid asking the question to, and the pig tells him that they are brothers. The fairy shows up and asks if the little boy would like to live like his brother the pig. The little boy says no, so he makes a deal with the fairy to keep his room clean and he wont live with his brother the pig.
This weeks Colour Collective was Serenity Blue. I decided to revisit Mole from “Wind in The Willows.” In this illustration I have him painting his study for Spring.
Today’s Sketch Dailies had us creating our own Pokemon. Not an avid game player I had to do some research on the types of Pokemon out there. I decided to try a plant/fairy type pokemon inspired by a dandelion. So Begerm is the early evolution where they float around like the seeds of a dandelion. Than it evolves to become Blumbudd which I would imagine would hide its bulb under ground while the flower is used to gather sun rays for energy. It uses the leaves on the sides of its head to hover if in trees. Then the final evolution is Florette which grows to have poisonous tendrils with thorns. Not needing wings she can float with her flower petals on her head. I had a another final final evolution with a queen, but I ran out of time lol Maybe she’ll appear in another future illustration cause she’s pretty cool.
Today’s Sketch Dailies topic was selfies. So I did one with my little buddy Samurai.
