This weeks Colour Collective color was Nougat. I based my illustration off of the Limerick by Edward Lear, “There Was an Old Man with a Beard”.
There was an Old Man with a beard,
Who said, “It is just as I feared!—
Two Owls and a Hen, four Larks and a Wren,
Have all built their nests in my beard!”
First 9 of Animal Alphabets: Mythical Creatures Edition
I decided to join in this round of Animal Alphabets, because the theme was Mythical Creatures. I knew it would lend to some interesting designs. So here are the first 9: Alphyn, Basilisk, Centaur, Dragon, Erymanthian Boar, Faun, Griffin, Hippocampus, and Imp.
“This Ghost Belonged to Me” Colour Collective: Pearl
This weeks illustration was based off Richard Peck’s book “This Ghost Belonged to Me”. It was also made into a movie by Disney in the 70’s called, “Child of Glass”. In this story moment, the boy named Alexander is talking to the Creole ghost girl Inez. She’s telling him that he must solve the riddle about the Child of Glass before Halloween. If he doesn’t she’ll be cursed to haunt him for the rest of his life.

Two of my agents at the Bright Group asked me to participate in designing a cover from a list of stories. Luckily “The Wind in the Willows” by Kenneth Grahame was on it. I’ve always loved the book as a kid, and I’m now currently re reading it for my portfolio. I’d love to one day get a chance to illustrate the entire book. Maybe one day.
