Character A Day – A Few More
So this year I decided to start a little experiment. Since I tried out the Inktober last year, I wanted to do one of my own. The idea came from another fellow artist Karoline Pietrowski. So the idea is that couple times during the week I would do a quick character design based off a full body picture and a personality description that is provided by volunteers.
Everyday I will draw someone (anyone) that requests to be drawn. They don’t have to be people I know, but they must be aware of the rules. Now these are the criteria:
1. I need a full body (preferably clothed picture of yourself, I know I have some funny friends out there that might test the water on this). Make sure it’s clear and I can see your face. Don’t send me just your headshot. Full body photo for reference.
2. I need a short description of your personality. For example: age, gender (yes I’m asking for that as well), occupation, etc. anything really to help me figure you out better when I pose or give you a facial expression.
3. Are not afraid or offended that I may exaggerate features that I may find to be important to shape and form.
4. Make sure to private message me on fb https://www.facebook.com/EdwardTaylor or email me edwardiantaylor@gmail.com for any questions or to provide me with the needed picture and basic information. Please do not send me long bio of your entire life. lol
Remember this is an experiment that I hope I can do each day (maybe as my daily warm ups).
Let’s see who volunteers. Thanks guys!
A Couple 30 Min Quickies During the Week.
My Second and Third Assignments
Assignment 6 Being able to Mimic Another Artists Style
For this weeks assignment we had to design a dragon character based off the style of Ronald Searle and Jay Ward. They are two extremely different artists when figuring out characteristics of their work. My instructor gave me some really good feedback so I’ll be going back into these and updating them per his suggestions. Only two more weeks to go!
Assignment 4 Chracter Faces

This weeks assignment was literally a last minute thing. I’ve been pretty busy all week in preparation of leaving my current job at IKEA for my first industry job as a concept artist. So I’ve been running around crazy. So today I actually had time to work on my homework assignment. It was pretty hard considering we were making just character faces for librarians. And it was not an easy task. I hope you enjoy 🙂
Balloon Boi Starbucks Lid Character warm up

Here is today’s warm up. I always loved getting balloons when I was a kid. Here is the feeling I would have when my mom or dad would buy me one. Enjoy 🙂
I’m Back! Lets resume the drawing :)

Hi everyone. Its been a long semester with lots continuing to happen. I’m currently taking a character design class (my first one ever) and I needed a warm up today so I made a new Starbucks lid character. I named him Frenchy since I was thinking of a french bulldog.
Enjoy 🙂
