Happy Book Birthday To This Little Lady!!!
It’s Little Red’s Book Birthday! “It’s Not Little Red Riding Hood” written by Josh Funk and illustrated by myself premiers today! Hope everyone enjoys Red’s Not so familiar rendition of the events to Grandma’s house. Also keep an eye out for the various fairy tale characters and familiar items I’ve sprinkled throughout the book.

“It’s Not Little Red Riding Hood” Cover Reveal!
It’s here! The official cover for IT’S NOT LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD – available for preorder now (out 10.27.20), revealed exclusively by @hereweeread (everyone follow her for amazing book suggestions). http://hereweeread.com/2020/01/cover-reveal-its-not-little-red-riding-hood-by-josh-funk.html
.
Here’s a little about the book: Little Red likes to play by the rules. So when the narrator comes along and asks her to follow the story set out in her fairy tale, she grabs the basket for Grandma and goes. After all, she loves her Grandma.
.
But as Little Red attempts to follow the narrator’s directions (WHICH, FRANKLY, SEEM KIND OF DANGEROUS!), she is beset by fill-in characters, confusing instructions, and even a fierce battle! Will Little Red ever make it to Grandma’s house? And who will she find when she gets there?
.
Complete with some unusual guest appearances, this laugh-out-loud Little Red Riding Hood retelling will have kids giggling all the way to Grandma’s house!
.
This is the third book in the “It’s Not a Fairy Tale” series following IT’S NOT JACK AND THE BEANSTALK and IT’S NOT HANSEL AND GRETEL (both available now).

So A was Audrey II from the “Little Shop of Horrors”, B is for “Babadook”, C for “Creature from the Black Lagoon”, D for Demogorgon from “Stranger Things”, E for “Edward Scissorhands”, and F for “The Fly”.
November is Picture Book Month
When I was a little, I remember watching the “Really Rosie” animation tv special which had stories by Maurice Sendak and songs sung by Carol King. I loved it so much that I sought other books by Maurice Sendak in the library. One of Maurice’s books in particular has always been a favorite of mine, which was “Pierre A Cautionary Tale in Five Chapters and Prologue”. So I chose the moment where Pierre puts himself in the Lion’s mouth to eat him. This was for my agents for November Picture Book Month.
“It’s Not Jack and the Beanstalk” One of my Favorite Pages.
“It’s Not Jack and the Beanstalk” is out now!!! Written by Josh Funk and illustrated by yours truly. One of my favorite spreads from the book was the title page. I wanted to establish right from the beginning Jack and Bessie’s friendship and to show them in a moment together before the story began. If you look really closely, you can see the silhouette of the Giant’s castle in the cloud shadows created by the moonlight. Also, there is a hidden fairy tale character in this spread. Probably the hardest one to find.
If you have not already purchased “It’s Not Jack and the Beanstalk”, its available now at your local bookstore. Or you can purchase it on Amazon at this link http://a.co/fFFuB3d
And because “It’s Not Jack and the Beanstalk” was so well received before it debut . . .
