Winter’s Mistress
For this piece I wanted to keep it fairly monotone. I took a quick sketch from my sketchbook and took 1 hr. to complete. I took inspiration from old vintage photographs. I also played around with making my own custom brushes. Lots of fun. Hope you all like it 😉
Princess of Fall
Here is another portfolio piece. One of the things I do enjoy about living next to a forest is the beautiful Fall leaves. The other day they were falling off trees like rain. Kind of the inspiration for this piece. Hope you enjoy it.

A new portfolio piece. Trying to work on my weaknesses- color and light.
I recently had a friend that works in the animation industry give me critiques on my portfolio. Strengths I have many, but my weakness is my dependency in line. I guess having always wanted to be a comic book artist as a kid has set me in some habits I wasn’t quite aware of. To make it in the animation (specifically 3D) a development artist needs to be able to render things with the use of color and light. Both of which I struggle with. So going through my portfolio, I’ve decided to revamp it by adding more current work. I’ve been so busy working, teaching, and animating that I’ve started letting my artist side sit on the side lines. So this holiday break, along with Christmas break, I’m hoping to get some work done.
Here is a sample of a piece I’m working on at the moment. I call it Little Darkness Hunter.

Donatello Quick Sketch
Growing up in the 90s, I collected everything Ninja Turtles. Today I still have all my action figures stored away in a trunk in my attic. Yesterday, a quick thumbnail sketch of my version of Donatello while sitting at my desk at work. Sitting at my computer at home, I scanned it in and before I knew it I had detailed out the sketch and I had colored him in. Its been some time since I’ve done any quick sketches, so here he is all fleshed out. I hope you enjoy 😉
Randomness 3
As I’m working on Animations, sitting in meetings, or planning stuff at work, I’ve kept my sketchbook or a scrap piece of paper in front of me. Â Some interesting things happen while doodling. Â Lots of it is fleshing out ideas for projects I’m kind of juggling at the moment or will be working on. . . once school lets down. Â Hope you enjoy.
